Challenge

Following the devastating 2004 tsunami in India, affected communities urgently needed safe and sustainable rehabilitation support, including schools and community facilities.

Solution

Maranatha, a non-profit organization with extensive experience in global rebuilding projects, introduced the Hydraform interlocking block system. A Hydraform machine was installed on-site, allowing blocks to be produced using locally available soil and resources.

Implementation

With basic training, local workers and volunteers learned to manufacture high-quality blocks and actively participate in the construction process.

Outcome

Maranatha successfully built schools and rehabilitation centres, providing durable infrastructure while empowering local communities through skills development and hands-on involvement.
